Update from the Education Minister - Phased Return

19th Feb 2021

I will write to all parents next week with more details on the proposed plans for the reopening of schools for all children. At present, Primary 1-3 children will return on Monday 8th March for full-time face-to-face teaching before returning to remote learning from Monday 22nd March. I still await clarification on when Primary 4-7 children are set to return.

Our supervised learning provision for vulnerable children and the children of key workers who have no other viable option for childcare will continue as normal.

I have received a number of recent enquiries from parents in relation to the supervised learning provision within the school. Please note the following:

Schools are only able to consider offering places for in-school provision to key workers who have no other viable option for childcare, or, for children in the vulnerable category. Schools cannot offer places outside of this, as this would apply to a large number of children (the majority of our parents are key workers) and this would be counterproductive in terms of the lockdown and unsustainable in terms of supervision in school. The school's in-school provision is currently full.

Remote and supervised learning will return as normal on Monday and we will be recognising Superhero Week to raise awareness of Autism at home and in school.

More information to follow next week.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr Mone
