Dear Primary 6 Parent,
As the dust settles on the recent debacle over the 2020 transfer tests, attention now turns to the 2021 cohort. As in previous years, I will issue details to parents at the beginning of March of the school's planned provision for the test. I will also discuss the options available for your child in terms of whether they would benefit from doing the test, or, whether they need to do the test depending on their post-primary school of choice. A number of you will have already made your decision while others will be undecided. Please call me at the school at any time over the next few weeks if you wish to have a discussion about your child's options.
From the beginning of March, I will begin my Transfer Club for those wishing to take the test (more details to follow). In the meantime, I have attached the first of a number of revision booklets which Primary 6 children can access. For those that will be sitting the test, this booklet is compulsory and must be completed on top of Miss Kerr's remote learning tasks. For those that are undecided, the booklet is still available for your child to complete if they wish.
- The booklet is broken-up into 4 weeks of revision.
- Children will complete a speed test, 2 Maths tasks and 1 English task per week.
- Children must learn the information page before completing the set task.
- Answers are provided at the back of the booklet so that parents can support their child.
- All work completed must be sent to my email address by a Thursday evening so that I can monitor your child's progress smone720@c2kni.net (you can take a photo of the completed work and email through).
Printed versions of the booklet are available from the school on request - please let me know via email.
Week 1 tasks will begin this Monday and responses must be submitted by next Thursday evening.
Your child may find some areas of the revision difficult in the beginning, and they may require your support with the tasks. Please be assured that we will cover all of these areas in detail within the Transfer Club.
