Opening of Garden Room & Marie Curie Donation

29th Nov 2024

We officially opened our new Garden Room today and presented a cheque of £1000.00 to Marie Curie representative Cathal McGurk. Members of our Friends of Roan group along with marathon runners from our hugely successful Run for Roan fundraiser earlier this year were present at the event. Conor Daly from Eglish Builders (who built the room) was also present and all in attendance were very impressed by our new space which has already been very busy!

The fundraising money also went towards the development of our outdoor learning area for our Foundation Stage classes, again, a much needed space which has been pivotal in the provision of play based learning.

We are very lucky to have a such an amazing group of parents who continue to support all of our events and fundraisers. We have developed a number of structures around our school in recent times and we are very grateful to those who have given up their time to develop these at no cost. Our Hub area developed by Adrian & Mark Daly with plastering work by Shane & Martin McCann; our car park shed base by Corey Murtagh; our refurbished garden shed, AR library shelving and internal joinery work for our Garden Room by Caolan & Patrick Daly of Daly Interiors, and a number of internal & external works by Conor & Ronan Daly and their team at Eglish Builders; including electrical work by Martin Gildernew.

A number of staff and parents have helped in the past to maintain the grounds of the school and to develop our Nurture Garden, donating a range of items for the school grounds and always being on hand to support any school improvement initiatives.

Our Friends of Roan members continue to work tirelessly behind the scenes to raise much needed funds for our school. We are indebted to them for their continued support and a massive thank you to all who organised and contributed towards the Run for Roan and Disco Dash fundraisers.

Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Martin Daly, thanked all involved in the fundraiser initiative as the school continues to improve the provision available to the children of the Eglish community.
