Congratulations to our girls' Camogie team who were crowned County Champions today in Omagh!! The girls went unbeaten throughout the day, finally beating Recarson in the final. Indoor Camogie: TYRONE FINAL 2018
The Station Centre in Omagh was the scene of this year’s annual Indoor Camogie Final. As in previous years, the standard was quite simply brilliant.
It was a fitting climax to the wonderful heats held across the county.
Edendork P.S., St. Brigid’s P.S. Altamuskin, St. Brigid’s P.S. Brocagh and St. Patrick’s P.S. Castlederg all played marvellous camogie only to fall just short of making further progress in the tournament.
Roan P.S. Eglish topped Section ‘A’ with 3 wins from 3 and they were followed, in second place, by St. John’s P.S. Kingsisland. Both schools had guaranteed themselves a semi-final slot. Meanwhile, Section ‘B’ was headed by St. Ronan’s P.S. Recarson who had a perfect win record, too. Closely behind them came the Carmen girls from St. Colmcille’s P.S. Carrickmore. Again, both schools made it to the semi-finals.
As things transpired, the Section winners proved just strong enough to see-off their opponents in the semi’s. Roan P.S. edged their contest with Carrickmore 2:0, whilst Recarson recorded a 4:2 win against Kingsisland. Playing-off for third place, Mrs. McGurk’s Carrickmore just squeezed past Master O’ Neill’s Kingsisland to secure county silver medals. Both schools can be very proud as they now rank amongst the top 4 camogie teams in Tyrone.
Everything was now set for the Co. Final between the only sides boasting 100% records. Something had to give. St. Ronan’s P.S. Recarson got off to a terrific start by scoring early. However. St. Patrick’s P.S. Roan, Eglish, soon levelled before stretching their lead to 3:1. This was to be the final scoreline. Mrs. Meenagh can be very proud of her Recarson girls – not to mention the boys’ exploits in hurling yesterday.
Meanwhile, this victory tasted extra sweet for Master Grimley’s girls after the narrow defeat the Roan lads suffered in yesterday’s hurling final. Going through the entire day without dropping a single point is sensational. This much cherished Co. Camogie crown is thoroughly deserved!

Our appreciation also goes to our top referee, Declan Sherlock, for his expert officiating and to Orla O’ Neill for her invaluable assistance throughout our series of heats. It was great to see Ulster Hurling Development Officer, Kevin Kelly, in attendance, too. St. Patrick’s P.S. Roan, Eglish: Maith sibh go léir! They now have the honour of representing Tyrone in the Ulster Finals 25 April in Magherafelt. Ádh mór!
