Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Football Qualifier
Fr Connolly Park in Eglish was the venue for today's Allianz Cumann na mBunscol finals day qualifier. Roan St Patrick's Eglish, St Joseph's Galbally, St Mary's Cabragh, St Mary's Pomeroy, St Patrick's Donaghmore and Gaelscoil Aodha Rua all fielded teams in both the boys' and girls' sections of this 9-a-side football competition.
The standard on the day was extremely high with all games keenly contested. After the round-robin stage, St Patrick's Donaghmore and Roan St Patrick's Eglish qualified for the final with the Donaghmore lads pulling away in the second half to win and qualify for the finals.
In the girls' section, St Mary's Pomeroy and St Joseph's Galbally topped the group and played an excellent final. The Pomeroy girls edged the game and will now join Donaghmore boys at the finals day in Garvaghey on June 4th. We wish both teams the best of luck in the finals!
A big thank you to Marty Devlin for helping with the refereeing today and to the Cumann na mBunscol officers who arranged the fixtures.
Well done to all children who competed today showing great respect to their opponents and officials.
